At the last Asia’s leading exhibition, the ITB Asia travel trade show in Singapore, St. Petersburg was traditionally represented by a collective exposition organized by the Convention Bureau of the Saint Petersburg Committee for Tourism Development along with the leading partners of the city.
During the three days of the exhibition about 20 presentations were held at the stand of St. Petersburg. Topics included tourist opportunities of the city, specialized city congress and exhibition venues, programs to support business events organizers, and the introduction of the electronic visa regime in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region.
The event potential of the city was presented by industry leaders - tour operators «Nevsky Seasons», «Global Russia», DMC & PCO, and the Museum of Russian Railways.
Representatives of major international companies and associations showed great interest in the exposition of St. Petersburg. Mr Soo Siew Keong, director of the international unit of the Singapore Tourism Board, visited the stand on a working visit accompanied by the Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Singapore Mr. Alexey Dakhnovsky.
In order to develop business tourism in St. Petersburg, promote the city as a congress destination and attract major international events, representatives of the Convention Bureau held more than 70 meetings with participants of the ITB Asia 2019: ISPIM – the International Society for Professional Innovation Management and IFALPA - the International Federation of Air Line Pilots' Associations, Singapore Convention Bureau, UNICEO- United Networks of International Corporate Event Organizers, ATPI - the largest international and event agency, the International Financial Cryptography Association (IFCA), METACRED-Association Management Company and others.
Aditionally, a business meeting was held with representatives of the National Association of Travel Agents Singapore- NATAS.
St. Petersburg has a strong position as a comfortable, affordable and attractive tourist destination. The city hosts major world events. As an example, among the major events of 2020 are the Worldchefs Congress & Expo and the matches of the 60th anniversary of the European Football Championship- UEFA EURO 2020.
Reminder, the ITB Asia exhibition is considered to be the leading business event in the tourism industry in the Asia-Pacific region. In 2018, ITB Asia welcomed over 1,000 exhibitors, over 1,000 buyers and more than 11,000 attendees.
