The conference is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of V.P. Semyonov-Tian-Shan (1870-1942) – famous Russian geographer, professor of Leningrad State University, one of the founders of Russian political geography and St. Petersburg School of Science and Education.
The main purpose of the Conference is to present and discuss the achievements of Russian political geography and geopolitics and Russia's oldest St. Petersburg University School of Political Geography and Geopolitics, as well as presenting the results of studies of centers of political geography and geopolitics.
The conference is expected to participate with plenary and sectional reports (including on-Line), representatives of the St. Petersburg University School and leading Russian scholars in the field of public geography, political geography and geopolitics, related areas of knowledge and political practice from St. Petersburg, Moscow, Vladivostok, Kaliningrad, Smolensk, Rostov-on-Don, Simferopol cities as well as foreign scientists.
The conference is planned to hold a youth section and workshops, a business game, summing up the results of a competition for works of young scientists, as well as presentation of new publications and a new university interdisciplinary master's program «Political Geography and Geopolitics».
The conference will be held in a mixed format – remotely on the Zoom platform and on the basis of St. Petersburg State University.
